Snowdrop Necklace

The Snowdrop Necklace is a chunkier chain with a single freshwater pearl held on a carabiner. The pearl has a fullness to it that always reminds me of the walk near ours, the one that opens up into hills covered in buttercups once summer arrives.

To get there you cut through the forest first, following a winding path that eventually brings you out to a bank of whatever the woodland's decided to do that season, snowdrops, then bluebells, then daffodils, one after the other as the year turns. The first time we walked it, not long after we'd moved here, we had no idea it was coming. We just turned a corner and there it was. Now it's become a yearly thing, we watch for it, and our dog tears straight through the flowers every single time like he's been waiting for it too.

This necklace holds a bit of that feeling, the first proper sign that something's shifting, the cold easing off, everything starting to wake up again. It's got a strength to it, softened by the pearl, in the same way that walk always feels a little tender after a long winter of not seeing it.

I think about that path most whenever the ground's still frosty and the trees are still bare, right before the first cluster appears at your feet. It's a small reminder that the year's turning, and that some things are worth walking the same path for, again and again.

The Snowdrop Necklace is striking on its own and pairs beautifully with simpler chains, but it always keeps its own character. A little sign of spring you can carry with you, wherever your own version of that walk happens to be.
