Vows Bracelet

This bracelet is inspired by a lifelong friend, the quiet kind, never in your face, always there.

We played with Bratz dolls on someone's bedroom floor before either of us understood what friendship even meant. We walked to school together for years after that. Look through photos from any childhood birthday party of mine and you'll find her grin somewhere in the background, she's in almost all of them. We've been through the lot since, from our mums' midwife appointments right up to weddings, with school discos and prom nights and starting businesses somewhere in between.

She's my hairdresser now too, so I spend a strange amount of time in her salon chair, telling her every detail of my life while she works away. But the part I look forward to most is after, when we sit with a coffee and put the world to rest. She's the kind of support I don't always notice I have, a soft cushion to fall onto, until I need her and there she is.

Last year I had the joy of attending her wedding. What I remember most, though, is sitting in that same chair beforehand, helping her choose her jewellery for the day. Pearls. It had to be pearls.

This bracelet is a friendship bracelet in disguise. I think of it as the vow you make to a friend without ever saying it out loud, the one you made as a kid without knowing that's what it was, to keep showing up for each other, whatever version of life you're both in. A small icon of a lifetime of laughter, love, and showing up. Whether it's worn by a bride, a friend, or someone who just needs a reminder of who's stood beside them, I hope it carries as many memories as it does meaning.
